Prefabricated Stairs – Get them Cheap
Jennifer S. on February 11th, 2010
The economics of today’s construction marketplace place greater demands and expectations on architects, construction managers and building owners. Manufacturers of products used in construction and building must provide cheap and well designed solutions, made with the highest quality components, offering economic value within the framework of an increasing array of building codes and safety regulations. Not only are prefabricated stairs part of this array, but in some ways installing a set of prefabricated stairs might be the solution to your woes.
Prefabricated stairs are an excellent way to meet all your external stairway requirements. Building a staircase can be a difficult thing to accomplish even for the most experienced builder. The reasons for this are many including building code regulations, making the stairs fit the location perfectly, and also getting your stairs comfortable enough to use every day. However, when you order a set of prefabricated stairs to be constructed, all of these things are already done for you.
Curved stairs take the longest to build on average because of the geometric shapes and curvatures involved – it is a complicated process after-all. That is why these staircases should only be built by the most experienced builder because of their complexity. Also, the fact that these are the most common types of stairs that are requested doesn’t help. If you do not wish to have a high-priced contractor build your staircase, then purchasing prefabricated staircases will save you a substantial amount of money in the long run. ”Journeyman” carpenters have to make a living surely, but there are better, more cost efficient ways to get the stairs you desire and for a fairer price, namely a set of prefabricated staircases is what you need.

Steel Prefabricated Stairs
Once you decide who you plan on going with for your staircases you have several options such as what type of treads and risers to use. You can choose from custom made wooden treads and risers in Walnut, Cherry, Oak and Brazilian Cherry. Besides straight L shaped prefabricated stairs 90 degree curved stairs are also available in addition to spiral hourglass shaped stairs, U shaped ones, 180 degree with one or two landings and L shaped 90 degree staircases with a landing.
Site built stairs can become cupped, cracked or bowed causing them to become useless. While this problem can be avoided by purchasing number one stair stock, it is a lot more expensive than Spruce, Pine, or Fir.
You must also take into account your budget for such a project beforehand. Custom fittings can become pricy very quickly and the costs can get out of control. Once you have your mind set on what you want and when you need it then go with it. Prefabricated stairs come in virtually every size and style imaginable so finding what you need shouldn’t prove to be that difficult.
