Cutting Stair Stringers

The stairs are the most artistic features of ant house or building, apart from the style factor the staircase is the focal point of any building as well as of the interior decor. The stairs ought to be therefore constructed with the utmost care. Even the carpenters and masons who are the main hands behind such construction agree to the fact that the most difficult and time consuming task in building projects is constructing the staircase. The staircase is made up of many parts like the treads, risers, stringers, winders etc. The stringers are structural members which support the treads and risers, there are generally two stringers one on each side of the stairs. The stringers are also notched at times so as to fit the treads and risers, open sided stairs also called cut stringers make the treads and risers.
The cutting of stair stringers can be a difficult task unless you know the basics; the stringers are the backbone of any staircase so care should be taken to cut the stringers as per the pattern and height required. In order to prepare and cut the stringers the saw horses should be laid out, a framing square and clamp can be further used to trace the outline of the stair using the information from the staircase kit box. Lining up the riser height and the tread depth on the framing square and thereby aligning it to the stringer will enable the process of finding the exact angle to cut the stairs. The same procedure needs to be for the stringer. After the stringers have been marked the necessary adjustments are to be made. The stringer is to be dropped by cutting off the thickness of one tread to adjust for landing on the ground. After duly attaching the top step, the additional attachments are to be made to rectify the design.
